I serve leaders and organizations who long to create communities that are resilient, authentic, and deeply connected. My work lives at the intersection of theology and psychology, helping groups attend to both the emotional and spiritual aspects of leadership and collaboration so that collective action can flourish.
With a background in Christian traditions and daily mindfulness practice, I draw inspiration from the timeless spirituality of the natural world and cosmos—reminders that renewal, resilience, and transformation are woven into the very fabric of life. These rhythms shape how I guide teams in navigating change, fostering innovation, and grounding their work in practices that sustain both people and projects.
In addition to training and consulting, I have extensive grant-writing experience and a proven ability to design strategies that scale vision into sustainable impact. I am especially passionate about fostering collaboration and partnerships to strengthen spiritual ecosystems, and aligning diverse gifts and resources toward shared challenges.
I find joy in helping leaders reconnect to their calling and in witnessing the quiet ways grace shows up—whether in a team’s renewed sense of trust, in words that unlock possibility, or in creating shared work cycles that mirror the natural seasons.
My life's work has become how to make deep spiritual wisdom and practices accessible to mainstream audiences in our modern world. Typically this takes the form of education programs in workplaces like the United Nations, Harvard, Cleveland Clinic, MIT and Google, in which we explore timeless spiritual topics like purpose, self-discovery, compassion, and gratitude, discussed in a way that is secular and which interfaces with modern science and psychology. This work challenges me to draw on my own background and traditions to find what is timelessly human and relatable, and to be a welcoming accessible door through which people may step into a deeper exploration of life.
Andy Tix, Ph.D., is a teacher, writer, and consultant specializing in the psychology of well-being, religion, and spirituality. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota. His research has been honored by the John Templeton Foundation and the American Psychological Association. A longtime contributor to Psychology Today, Dr. Tix explores the science of how religion and spirituality impact individual and community thriving. He also collaborates with organizations on these topics and leads presentations, workshops, and retreats focused on human flourishing and spiritual growth.
Dr. Thekla Ross is a clinical psychologist, national leader in addiction medicine, and trusted advisor at the intersection of mental health, technology, and human connection. For more than two decades, she has helped reshape the fields of behavioral health and healthcare operations through evidence-based practice, compassion-driven leadership, and innovative harm reduction strategies.
She spent 14 years at Kaiser Permanente, where she directed national addiction operations and research, spearheaded the organization’s Harm Reduction Strategy, and co-created a nationwide initiative to support the psychological well-being of healthcare professionals during the pandemic. In addition to her health system leadership, she has served as a strategic advisor to the NIH and guided tech companies in guiding us back to human connection
An experienced communicator and educator, Dr. Ross has taught self-compassion and clinical communication skills to medical students, physicians, executives, and community leaders in the U.S. and abroad. Her teaching spans programs at the University of Colorado, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Hazelden Betty Ford, among others.
Today, she is widely recognized as a leading voice on digital harm reduction and self-compassion in the age of social media. She also serves on the board of a public art and sculpture garden on the shores of Lake Michigan.
I'm a ritualist and facilitator focused on designing dynamic and meaningful experiences for emotional exploration. I currently serve as the Coordinator for the San Francisco cohort of the Diller Teen Fellows, an international fellowship focused on leadership skills, Jewish identity, and tikkun olam. Formerly the Director of the Community Mikvah at American Jewish University, I am passionate about creating evocative Jewish spaces that appeal to diverse spiritual expressions inside our faith tradition. I also spent 7 years as a public speaker on the topics of loneliness and belonging (and their social and societal impacts) among Millennials and Gen Z. In my current work with teens, I aim to equip young people with the necessary skills to continue turning toward one another, even and especially during moments of conflict.

The vision for The Nurturing Place emerged from a deeply personal journey—one shaped by over two decades of inner work and professional excellence. As its founder, Priya has spent more than 20 years immersed in personal growth and healing, drawing from experiential education at the University of Santa Monica, Landmark, and Upbuild, as well as ancient wisdom practices such as Ayurveda and Chinese medicine. This inner work—supported by therapy, bodywork, and a continual study of transformational books—has profoundly shaped her understanding of what people truly need to heal and flourish.
Equally essential is the leadership experience she brings. Over the past two decades, she has built a career leading financial strategy and operations across sectors—from investment banking and education to nonprofit and social enterprise. Her roles have included serving as CFO of a graduate school, leading a SaaS company through a $340M exit, and helping to launch TopGolf in international markets. She has rebuilt finance teams, led major system overhauls, managed multi-million-dollar budgets, and successfully guided organizations through mergers and periods of rapid growth. In addition, she founded and led a nonprofit for at-risk youth in New York City, where she directed programming, staff, and fundraising.
This rare fusion of deep inner work and strategic operational leadership uniquely positions her to lead The Nurturing Place. She brings not only the lived experience and insight into the healing process, but also the tactical and financial acumen needed to bring this vision to life, scale it with integrity, and ensure its long-term sustainability.

Our work in the innovation space is largely about spotlighting entrepreneurial, spiritual leaders and connecting them with each other for the sake of learning, support, care, and courage. We convene cohorts of leaders and gather leaders from inside as well as the edges of the church. I am a United Methodist clergy and am grounded in and committed to Wesleyan theology, centered in grace, spiritual formation and practices, the importance of small group connections, and wider justice work.
I’m a queer, neurodivergent pastor and consultant rooted in contemplative Christianity and interfaith belonging. I lead House Church Tulsa, a spiritual community for those who feel outside traditional church structures, and co-founded Kindred Table, a pay-as-you-can interfaith gathering centered on food, story, and shared humanity. As founder of The Center for Youth and Contemplation, I design resources and curricula that integrate contemplative practice, psychology, and creative expression for youth and those who guide them. I am the author of Path of Trinity: A Journey into Christian Mysticism, a book that calls for a revival of early Christian practices in alignment with a postmaterialist worldview. As the founder of Trinity Foundation Global, I lead a non-sectarian think tank that leverages Postmaterialist Science to drive transformative change in modern society. I am also at the helm of the Zen Christian Network, an ecumenical initiative providing a platform for Christians committed to integrating meditation and contemplative practices. Amy Wu is the founder and CEO of Manifest, an AI wellness company that creates daily mental health games for Gen Z. Manifest is backed by a16z Speedrun, HF0, Soma Capital, Transpose Platform, amongst others. Amy was formerly the co-founder of Player Edition, a NBA digital asset company with the Rivers and Curry families. She was also an investor at ICONIQ Growth, a late-stage VC investing in companies like Zoom, Datadog, and Snowflake. Amy holds a B.S. from Stanford University.
Rabbi Sid Schwarz is a social entrepreneur, author and teacher. He is currently a Senior Fellow at Adamah: People, Planet, Purpose (formerly, Hazon). Rabbi Sid directs the Clergy Leadership Incubator (CLI), a program that trains rabbis to be visionary spiritual leaders. He also created and directs the Kenissa: Communities of Meaning Network which is identifying, convening and building the capacity of emerging spiritual communities across the country. Rabbi Sid founded and led PANIM: The Institute for Jewish Leadership and Values for 21 years. Its work centered on integrating Jewish learning, Jewish values and social responsibility. He is also the founding rabbi of Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation in Bethesda, MD where he continues to teach and lead services. Sid was awarded the prestigious Covenant Award for his pioneering work in the field of Jewish education and was named by Newsweek as one of the 50 most influential rabbis in North America. Sid's most recent book is Jewish Megatrends: Charting the Course of the American Jewish Future (Jewish Lights, 2013). His book, Finding a Spiritual Home: How a New Generation of Jews can Transform the American Synagogue (2000) is one of the seminal works in the field of synagogue transformation.
In an age of commodification of the human person, I seek to gather people to intentionally renew ancient villages with the spirit of Jesus of Nazareth. I seek to create:
- A space of lament, for suffering is the weight of oppression, but lament is the tear of heaven that flows when we dare to face our suffering. Those tears burn away empty promises and open the path to new life.
- A space of testimony - not religious marketing - but life stories born out of lament. We will cultivate a garden of hope out of the compost of our lament. In this space, we will remember each other’s pain and breathe hope into one another.
- A space of hospitality: for fear of the other is a manifestation of our own self-hatred. To a wholesome human, the other is no enemy but a brother, a sister to be welcomed with joy. With this spirit, we will create a life together of neighbor-love and hospitality.
- A space of beauty and joy: We will create a new culture against an age that commodifies heaven and earth and humanity. We will search for the true beauty resonant with God’s spirit in every life. We will engage in play that resonates with the joy in our soul.
- A village of deepening fellowship: We will start with shared meals. And as imagination and circumstances allow, will seek to expand the sphere of our life together - food, clothing, shelter, play and work. Without such sharing, each one of us will be easy pickings by the dominant culture.
As a Korean adoptee raised in rural Iowa, my calling is to create inclusive spaces for spiritual development and formation. I have served as a hospital and U.S. Air Force Reserve chaplain, witnessing how love and compassion can bridge despair and division.
At the Fetzer Institute, I lead the design and ongoing development of our internal spiritual formation work. My role centers on cultivating a spiritually grounded, deliberately developmental, beloved community that supports individual and communal growth in living out the Institute’s guiding purpose and values.
Before joining Fetzer, I collaborated with chaplain leaders across hundreds of faith traditions to strengthen professional standards, advance inclusive communication strategies, and develop training for spiritual leaders in more than 1,100 congregations. I hold a Master of Divinity and completed a postgraduate Clinical Pastoral Education residency at Allina Health in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In a world facing unprecedented challenges I am a spiritual innovator filled with both a raw realism and overwhelming hope. I believe in a totally inclusive spirituality – which I define as ‘the flow of the experience of meaning and relationship’ (with belief in a god entirely optional) – empowered by universal life-giving values, which enable every person to find their own unique spiritual path that is true for them. My passion is to share these understandings as widely as possible and support each person with free resources. Increasing numbers of people are culturally disoriented, spiritually confused (even within historic faiths), many hurt by religion. Multitudes rejecting religion totally. I have used my approaches widely with powerful effect. I have very creative approaches to positive spirituality, from stimulating exciting interfaith dialogue to respecting nihilist perspectives and their integrity. Personally, I identify as a ‘christian animist’, so deep ecology shapes the heart of my own spirituality, yet I’m mindful that some 58% of the global population live in cities so my spiritual language draws from both parkour and prairie, looking to see both the metropolis and the wilderness flow together, hence my passion for universal life-giving values and their astonishing power.
I'm currently working on a project to incorporate scientific findings about neuroplasticity into Christian contexts - specifically Presbyterian worship.
I am Nicholas Steven George, and I am understanding what it means to call myself a Black poet. I am the author of three books of poetry: Just Some Stuff I Wrote Down (2009), EL-OH-VEE-EE (2010), and Carnegie Halls in Shower Stalls (2023). I have performed at venues such as TedXCharlottesville, American Psychology Association Annual Convention, University of Lynchburg & Opera Roanoke. My poems and performances have been commissioned by Greater Public and the Academy Center of the Arts . While I have not been published in any magazines or journals since graduate school, I have been able to use my knowledge of the craft to work with middle and high school aged students, young musicians and artists, community leaders, youth in group homes and more. In large gatherings of like-hearted humans, I’ve used active listening and creative writing as my anchor points towards discovering the voice of one’s soul. I’ve witnessed collective yearning and flourishing take place, yet I need to own this journey for myself. I’m not just writing about identity and healing; I’m attempting to reweave them into something sacred, embodied, and collective.
I’m a creator, mirror, and tour guide of awareness. Through Reality Tour Guide, I design experiences that make awakening feel less like homework and more like remembering you’re already home. My work blends humor, psychology, and direct self-inquiry to reveal the sacred hiding in the ordinary.
My identical twin was my first teacher in oneness—through her, I learned that every “other” is simply me, wearing a new disguise. That insight drives everything I build: retreats, audio tours, and playful reminders that enlightenment doesn’t require robes or rules, just honesty.
I’m most inspired by those “aha” moments when people laugh mid-awakening, realizing they wrote their own script all along. I’m here to collaborate with creators who are re-writing spirituality for the modern world—less preaching, more remembering.
Iqbal S. Akhtar is an American academic and public intellectual known for his work in religious studies, international relations, and philanthropy. He is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Politics & International Relations at Florida International University (FIU). Akhtar has also served as a Program Director for the Templeton Religion Trust and has been actively involved in various non-profit and governmental roles.
How are we gonna survive the collapse together? How are we gonna grow a new world for our great-great-grandchildren to live together in?
Community singing is "an ancient technology of belonging" that sustains our joy and resilience, gives access to our grief, fuels our movements for justice in the streets, harmonizes our bodies somatically, and anchors our courage for the work to come. I've lead community singing at picket lines and protests, parties and potlucks, Education for Liberation workshops, grief and healing spaces, Transgender Day of Remembrance, and for anti-racist somatic praxis.
As a movement chaplain, I want to make sure we're sustainable for the long haul together. I want to make sure queer+trans folx and BIPOC+mixed race folx and disabled folx and other multiply marginalized folx get all they need to thrive.
I'm interested in deep, hyperlocal community building, how we take care of one another, and how we navigate care and conflict from an abolitionist perspective. I've been shaped by seasons of living in intentional community, building interfaith youth work, and living through the People's Uprising in Minneapolis after the murder of George Floyd by the state. That's sparked a lot of the songs I'm writing today.
Everyone's spiritual path is different, and winds through everything we are and do: our families, our health, our creativity, our work, and our relations with Nature and the Greater. We all deserve validation and support as we seek our spiritual purpose.

Rooted in spiritual ecology and eco-justice, my work draws on ancestral and emergent wisdom to reimagine how grief, land-based ritual, and natural cycles can restore balance. I bring deep curiosity for what is arriving through collaborations that celebrate grief, and lift up collective liberation.
I'm Hari-kirtana das. I'm currently exploring how to meet the need for clarity about what a spiritual response to the authoritarian trend in United States culture and governance really looks like when it’s based on the yoga wisdom tradition, especially the socio-cultural values and systems found in the core literature of theistic Vedanta—the Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavata Purana, and related Upanishads. Worldviews naturally give rise to ideologies: specific systems of belief and values that inform positions on political, social, or economic issues.
The bhakti-yoga wisdom tradition does not specify a modern political blueprint, but it does present enduring principles of governance, personhood, and moral responsibility that add up to a worldview, which, in turn, provides the basis for a socio-political ideology of cultural re-alignment around those principles.
In addition to offering online philosophy courses, personal spiritual mentoring, and coaching for yoga teachers, my ongoing project is the systematic development of bhakti-yoga’s socio-political ideology within a modern framework.
A wild-hearted, highly empathetic, sensitive, binary-disrupting rebel, not being afraid to be confrontational, making the uncomfortable unignorable while working towards transforming and transitioning the status-quo. In a world where thinking is praised as the only rational lens for the world, my truth is that feeling, vulnerability, impermanence and the feminine - are opening up possibilities for life.
This is really nothing new to us - we are living and working through and within undulated crises and breakdowns and at the same time beautiful manifestations of regeneration, visceral awareness and fearlessly dancing with wolves (mostly our inner ones). In order to do this work, I imagine futures where identities will be fluid, where constant experimentation and reinvention will be celebrated, and individuation and our whole selves perpetually evolve.
Where we need new forms of leadership, neither feminine nor masculine, but non-dual, non-binary - healing and integrating the paradoxes and opposites. Enabling us to explore and thrive in this blurry and ‘fluid nature’, and helping us to adapt to the challenges of this climate emergency.

LIGHT Movement is an interfaith grief-healing organization rooted in the belief that no one should grieve alone. We create accessible, community-centered spaces where people can explore their grief with compassion, connection, and support.
Our work brings together ritual, somatic practice, meaningful conversation, and gentle movement to nurture mind-body-spirit integration. Through classes, workshops, retreats, and gatherings, we help people feel held, seen, and supported across the many forms grief can take.
Our signature event—the Night to Illuminate Grief—invites faith leaders, chaplains, healers, and community members from diverse traditions to co-create a shared ritual of remembrance. Held in person across Colorado and virtually, this gathering reminds people that grief is universal, love is enduring, and community makes healing possible.

The mission of Clown Spirit is to integrate clowning into everyday life as a vital force for healing through awakening joy, truth and connection. The clown is a way for each of us to connect deeply with our own vulnerable and ridiculous humanity, the flaws and contradictions of the modern world, and the sacred power of truth telling. At Clown Spirit village we provide opportunities to connect with other clowns, to learn about the history, culture and technique of clowning, and to explore and express your own inner clown.
Numadelic Labs is a nonprofit research and creative hub dedicated to developing and ethically applying transformative technologies that support human flourishing through Awareness, Connection, and Insight. The term numadelic - meaning “spirit-manifesting” or “spirit-revealing” - reflects our commitment to designing experiences that expand conscious awareness and evoke a sense of belonging to something greater than oneself.
Working at the intersection of neuroscience, immersive technology, contemplative practice, and art, we seed and support the creation of tools and environments that foster healing, relational depth, and spiritual growth. Our current initiatives include XR-assisted group therapy for social anxiety and end-of-life distress, numadelic VR protocols to enhance lucid dreaming, and a compassion training platform inspired by the Buddhist practice of Tonglen.
While numadelics were originally conceived as VR experiences, we are also exploring non-VR modalities that evoke similar states of presence and insight. As a transdisciplinary, international , and intercultural collective - with hubs in Spain and UK as well as the US - we aim to cultivate technologies that are emotionally attuned, scientifically grounded, and in service of the flourishing of all life.

Lower Lights is a 501 (c)(3 ) nonprofit community dedicated to supporting awakening and passionate engagement in the world. Through the integration of ancient wisdom and contemporary developmental psychology, we specialize in community-building and spiritual formation.
At Lower Lights, we believe there is a renaissance of consciousness on the Wasatch Front. We seek to fan the flames of this alchemical fire by supporting each person to come alive to their unique qualities through transformative practices and vibrant community.
Our activities include intensive meditation retreat, online courses, cohort-based trainings, spiritual direction, and community gatherings that serve to bridge the religious/secular divide.
The Contentment Foundation supports educators and students in cultivating mindfulness, emotional awareness, meaningful relationships, contentment and a deep sense of purpose. What the Hispanic Scholars Program set out to achieve from its inception as the “Hispanic Summer Program” in 1989 was to supplement and enrich the theological and ministerial education being offered in seminaries and universities with academic courses and other programs directly addressing Latinx history, ministry and theology. As an ecumenical and inter-religious program, it seeks to heal the divisions in the Latinx community fueled by denominational and theological differences. As a Latinx program, the HSP tries to find ways to restore connections and build bridges between Latinx and non-Latinx communities, among others, by enhancing the awareness and appreciation that non-Latinx scholars, ministers, and administrators have of Latinx contributions to the past, present, and future of our religious institutions and our nation.With over fourteen programmatic offerings in the areas of education, professional development, mentorship, and public scholarship, the Hispanic Scholars Program empowers thousands of leaders annually with tools for serving the Latine community.
Uplift Kids is a lesson library and curriculum that helps families explore expansive spirituality and timeless values together using our approach, which combines modern science and ancient wisdom. We also offer family camps and parenting retreats.
The ZISL Model
The ZISL Model is built around four core concepts which are incorporated into everything we do: Spiritual Authenticity, Mindful Community Training, Co-Created Community, and Sustainable Living
Spiritual Authenticity is at the heart of our communities, deeply rooted in the Soto Zen tradition, and the Buddhist ideals of mindfulness, meditation, inquiry, and compassion. Our first community, Enso Village, was created with 10% of the housing available for retired Zen teachers who help provide a basis of Zen study and meditation to the programming on offer.
Each community has a full-time spiritual director who helps with Mindful Community training and assures the zen inspired authenticity and values integration. Each community also has a meditation hall and program director/meditation hall coordinator who helps program the space in terms of both educational and meditation offerings.
Mindful Community Training offers a way of approaching each other with compassion and mindfulness throughout all the ways we care for each other in our communities. Designed in partnership with the Zen Caregiving Project, our unique approach is provided in our training for staff but also available to all interested residents.
Co-created Community provides a constructive and participatory governance model for an intentional residential community. Our approach is inspired by over 50 years of community living in San Francisco Zen Center’s three campuses. We have developed a set of guiding principles that describe how we use interdisciplinary teams and consensus-building in the decision-making process to consider the people who will be affected by our choices. We recognize that our ability to live in accordance with our principles depends on the wellbeing of all of our resources— including people, land, buildings, finances and community agreements—and we collectively care for them with transparent, human-centered practices.
Enso Village opened in November of 2023.

The Monastic Academy for the Preservation of Life on Earth (MAPLE) offers modern monastic training to develop a collective that can resolve the crises of the digital age. Living Stories Sermons transforms the Sunday sermon into a shared act of storytelling and interpretation. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition yet adaptable across denominations, Living Stories combines lectionary-based scripts, tactile storytelling with wooden figures and underlays, and open-ended wondering questions to invite whole congregations—children, adults, and elders—into co-creating the sermon together.
Our mission is simple: to make proclamation participatory. Instead of one voice interpreting Scripture, Living Stories trusts that the Spirit speaks through many voices. The preacher becomes a facilitator, guiding conversation and weaving insights into a communal experience of God’s Word.
We create and share resources—scripts, guides, training materials—and support a growing network of preachers experimenting with this method in their own contexts. Already, more than 40 preachers in 19+ congregations have tried Living Stories, discovering that it deepens belonging, nurtures intergenerational connection, and brings Scripture alive in fresh ways.

Some years ago, a small group of friends recognized our need to slow down. Like many people, we felt overwhelmed by the speed of life and found little space for reflection. We created spaces where we could explore an important question we all shared: How are we going to be in the world?

At its heart, the Gaia Games is both deeply ancient and radically new. We draw from indigenous knowledge systems, neuroscience, and transformative festival culture to design experiences where competition inspires, but play, presence, and joy heal. The Collective Healing Lab is a soulful communal wellness initiative rooted in the Boise Treasure Valley. We draw on the ancestral wisdom of the village mindset to reimagine how people gather, heal, and flourish together. The Center for Transforming Engagement is a PNW-based nonprofit born out of The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. Our groundbreaking work and research focuses on building the personal, team, and organizational resilience needed to face the challenges of a fractured world in a post-Christendom context. St. Lydia’s is a church that gathers to share a sacred meal, as the first followers of Jesus did. Simple unaccompanied music is sung, scripture explored, and prayers offered, all in the context of a home-cooked meal. Instead of trying to figure out what a shared orthodoxy (right beliefs) might be, Lydians are trying to find what a shared orthopraxy (right living) looks like. This offers a place of healing and growth, particularly for people seeking a faith or spiritual life but who have been harmed by the Church.

The Spiritual Direction Formation & Certification program at Meadville Lombard equips and forms lay leaders, ordained clergy, professional religious leaders, and spiritual seekers with the skills and orientations to be compassionate, creative, and certified spiritual directors.
At its heart, the program is grounded in hospitality (belonging), liberation (becoming), and sustainability (beyond). These values are embodied through deep, radical listening practices that reconnect people to their authentic selves and to the God—or holy mystery—of their understanding.
This is healing work. This is liberating work. And the world needs it now.
Shomer Collective envisions a world where end-of-life matters are spoken about openly, thoughtfully, and frequently, creating opportunities for many more people to engage with Jewish wisdom, values, and practices.
These conversations and experiences can be transformational, having an impact not only on the person who is dying but on whole family and community systems.
Shalom Quest endeavours to provide resources that will support people in the search for their own unique spiritual path. These resources will come in the form of professionally made 15-minute films around themes like ‘Spirituality’, ‘Community’, and ‘Wellbeing’. The films will also support conversation groups stimulating interaction with others as they think through how to respond. Also, we will be developing carefully crafted Apps to continue supporting participants as they journey forward exploring and experimenting with universal life-giving values day by day. There will be two other powerful resources to support Shalom Quest. The first will be our Inter-spirituality Circle, which will be made up of active participants from every expression of spiritual understanding, who will be free to speak into what we are doing, make suggestions, and be available for participants to talk to. They will also act as advisors to our other resource the ‘Living Values Project.’ This project will identify all known life-giving values, mapping them to show their inter-relationship to every other value, plus exploring how they are each understood in many different cultures. Finally, we call our project ‘Shalom Quest’ because in Hebrew ‘shalom’ is understood the be the source of every life-giving value.
The purpose of the San Francisco Contemplarium is to create space in our neighborhoods to honor the human journey. We offer regular neighborhood rituals, physical installations, and lay support for neighbors to dignify life’s joys, sorrows, and transitions with the respect and care they deserve. Our work is powered by community volunteers – the Neighborhood Flamekeepers – who continuously develop skills of presence, ritual, and accompaniment while supporting each other.
We focus on the neighborhood as the primary locus of belonging, piloting this approach in the greater Hayes Valley area with plans to expand throughout San Francisco.. Our participants span generations and backgrounds, reflecting our neighborhood’s diversity. Our vision is a city where everybody's humanity is honored through accessible spiritual infrastructure woven into the fabric of daily life.
The Jewish ritual of shiva can be incredibly powerful for mourners, but challenging to orchestrate. Too often, it falls on mourners to plan shiva for themselves, because many of us have lost our “shiva circle”—the close-knit village of friends, clergy, and acquaintances who, for millennia, would step in and organize any time there was a death in a Jewish family.
By removing the burden, Shiva Circle unlocks the power of shiva to help people feel held by Jewish tradition and community. We provide accessible resources; digital tools that make it easy for friends and family to organize shiva and to help; and volunteer Shiva Guides who support mourners in prioritizing their needs and creating a shiva experience that’s right for them.
Get involved by joining a Shiva Circle workshop where you will learn how to hold space for mourners with compassion and care. These live, interactive sessions are designed to empower you with a deep understanding of Jewish mourning rituals and practical guidance for supporting mourners.
Prairie Sky Counseling Center is reimagining what community-based mental health care can look like when rooted in creativity, cultural humility, and spiritual integration. Our mission is to ensure that healing is accessible to all—regardless of income, insurance, or background—through a collaborative model that embeds counselors in trusted community spaces such as nonprofits, arts organizations, and faith communities. This lowers barriers, reduces stigma, and meets people where they already gather.
