I support & celebrate out-of-the-box, rebel souls who want to embrace their true & favorite selves, and thrive in this world that rewards conformity.
I am building The Unboxed: a Community for Spiritual Guidance, Coaching, and Inspiration for those Living Outside the Box(es).
I do spiritual direction & coaching, sometimes with tabletop roleplaying games similar to Dungeons & Dragons. I learned a lot about myself playing these games and now I play with others to help them find themselves and address some of the big questions of life.
I have a special commitment to my queer, kinky, and non-monogamous folk. Not to save them, rather because people in these communities often feel uncomfortable or unsafe seeking spiritual care, and are often ignored or even harmed by those providing spiritual care.
I am also the rabbi of Makom Shalom Mitziut in Chicago. Our intern and I are developing 2 new programs. This Magic Mitzvah, bar/bat/bet/b mitzvahs for unaffiliated families and adults who never had one—trans people whose first ceremony was the wrong gender, converts, women who were prohibited in their community of origin. And Silly Hat Torah, deep, personal Torah learning, w/silly hats (required).
