Started as a "none," now I live in a monastery!
After years of experimenting with creating spaces of community for the "spiritual but not religious," I moved into a Benedictine monastery and I haven't looked back. It turned out that nuns and monks were the perfect collaborators for spiritually-rooted, justice-oriented community. Previously, I thought I needed to create new forms in order to serve our spiritual hungers, but turning to the monastic wisdom of the Benedictine tradition I found plenty to meet our current realities and needs. My work lately is to deepen in the Benedictine tradition in order to better translate its wisdom for the lives of seekers beyond the monastery today. I hope to break the tradition out of its current expression, and into one that can be a gift for all the "SBNR" seekers today.
