Janine Sim

Weaving belonging, contemplation, service, and community into everyday life.

I am a Unitarian minister, trauma-informed practitioner, community builder, and lifelong spiritual seeker based in Edinburgh, Scotland. My work sits at the intersection of spirituality, belonging, wellbeing, and community innovation.

I draw inspiration from Unitarianism, Bhakti yoga, contemplative Christianity, nature-based spirituality, interfaith dialogue, and community development. Before ministry, I founded and led a yoga studio and teacher training school, and I continue to bring an embodied, bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective to my work.

I am particularly interested in how we create meaningful communities for people who are spiritually curious but may not identify with traditional religion. At St Mark's Unitarian Church, I am exploring models of spiritual community that weave together worship, contemplation, learning, service, creativity, pastoral care, and friendship.

Questions I am currently exploring include: How do we cultivate belonging in an age of loneliness? What might a thriving spiritual community look like in the twenty-first century? How can ancient wisdom traditions inform new forms of gathering and collective care?

I bring experience in leadership, facilitation, trauma-informed practice, chaplaincy, community building, yoga, and creating spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can connect, grow, and contribute together.
