In 15 countries around the world, we're learning together to behold everyone and everything.

Dr. J Kyle Gregory was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up in Bloomington. After more than 20 years in Italy and China, Kyle currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. There he brings his open jazz sensibility to the creation of new music. He studied music performance and education at Berklee College of Music, Indiana University, and the University of Northern Colorado, completing his doctorate in 1995. In 1991, he became a Fulbright Scholar, conducting a year of pedagogical research in Hungary, exploring innovative methods for teaching improvisation.

Kyle has performed and taught throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. He has performed with numerous internationally-known jazz and commercial artists, including Paul Motian, Vincent Herring, the Mingus Dynasty Big Band, The Temptations, and Liza Minelli. Kyle has recorded over 50 albums with various artists and independent labels globally, including three albums as leader/composer: Tongues of Fire, Be Still and Know, and World Downside Up, which can each be found on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube. Today he co-leads the new Nashville band Fly, Fly, Butterfly, with guitarist Jon Rogerson.

Kyle co-founded and leads the international arts non-profit Nexus, connecting art to life. Nexus shapes shared encounters with the arts that inspire life-opening conversations in Italy, Spain, Germany, France, England, Holland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, USA, Canada, Thailand and China. Nexus helps people shape their own local learning communities where everyone is invited to find their unique voice and share their precious life story. Together with spoken-word poet Brittany Williams, Kyle co-hosts the official podcast of Nexus - Opening Life Podcast - found on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
